Gene Hyde started his business in 1952 with one truck in Thomasville, Georgia. The company grew steadily through the years because of his reputation for being honest and fair to his employees and his customers. Contractors would approach him about leasing their trucks and drivers would apply to operate his company trucks because of the solid customer base that had been established and his attention to detail. His commitment to service with reliable equipment meant satisfied customers as well as loyal company drivers and contractors.

In 1967, Gene and his family relocated their business to Lakeland, Florida. He expanded his service to operate from the southeast to the mid-west hauling frozen concentrate, produce, and seafood from Florida. Return loads were meat products back into the southeast and Florida. In 1995, the company also began hauling dry freight, which is where we focus today.

As the business grew, the four children were brought into the company starting at the bottom and working up. June served as bookkeeper, then as Comptroller, and in 2000 became President. June has since taken the roll of Chairman of the Board. James Earl Hyde started as a mechanic, drove a truck, served as Vice-President over Sales and Operations and is now President. Dewell Hyde started as a mechanic and we are proud to have his over 35 years experience as a Gene Hyde Team Leader in our shop. In the past several years the Gene Hyde Trucking Team is excited to have been joined by three third generation contributors.
